From Kev: The stadium was opened in 1927 as Davis Field, named after former Supreme Court Justice (and good friend of Abe Lincoln) David Davis, whose property included the stadium in 1874 when the judge built his mansion. In 1943, the stadium was renamed Fred Carlton Field for the BHS grad (class of 1916) who was a custodian at the school and had passed away that year. The stadium was completely renovated in 2010 at the cost of two million dollars and seats 4,000 people. | |
